The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Venues are Ready

This year’s event makes history with a turfgrass first

The wait is almost over. Only a month to go until the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. A unique feature of this competition is that it will be the first time all matches are played on the same turfgrass. In Qatar, each of the eight stadiums and all of the training facilities are grassed with Platinum TE® Paspalum.

After years of extensive testing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy selected Platinum TE as the one and only turfgrass for Qatar. Several varieties of paspalum, bermudagrass, and zoysia were tested. Platinum TE outperformed the others in the areas that matter most. Platinum TE proved to be the most durable. It also ranked highest in shade tolerance, an essential characteristic since the stadium designs put parts of the field in the shade for extended periods of the day. In addition, Platinum TE won in the categories of recovery, establishment, and grow-in.

Platinum TE Paspalum looks amazing as well. The dark green color, fine leaf texture, and striping capabilities create a field to admire. See for yourself in the World Cup venue video and get a sneak preview of what is to come when the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off next month.
